Dear Valued Guests,
Warmest greetings from the heart of Chiang Mai!
We're excited to invite you to join the enchanting festivities of the Loy Krathong Festival, our city's radiant celebration of light and joy. Prepare for an unforgettable experience over three luminous nights, from 14 - 17 November 2024.
Join the local fervor along the serene Ping River, the central stage for the age-old tradition of floating krathongs, a tribute to the Water Goddess. Here are the prime spots to immerse yourself in the festival's magic, you can easily walk from Bed and Terrace :
Nawarat Bridge: Step into the heart of the festival where throngs of revelers gather to release their krathongs into the gentle waters, amidst the glow of countless candles twinkling like stars descended upon the river.
Iron Bridge: Witness a spectacle of lights at this iconic bridge, transforming into a radiant corridor of illumination—a picture-perfect spot for both partaking in the ritual and capturing memories that will last a lifetime.
Wat Chai Mongkhon Temple: For a more tranquil experience, meander through the temple grounds to the river's edge. Here, you can send off your krathong against the backdrop of the Iron Bridge, now a distant constellation of lights, offering a breathtaking view.
The excitement of the festival builds each evening at Tha Phae Gate, especially leading up to the grand Krathong Parade on 16 November 2024. This beautiful parade will wind its way from Tha Phae Gate to Nawarat Bridge, creating a stunning spectacle of lights, colors, and culture.
From 14 to 17 November, Tha Phae Gate transforms into a cultural hub, with live events each evening and festival lights that add a magical glow to the area. It’s the perfect spot to immerse yourself in the vibrant spirit of the festival.
Experience the enchantment of Loy Krathong at new place, from 14 to 17 November, the picturesque Khlong Mae Kha canal, transformed into a wonderland of festive decor. Illuminated by the soft light of krathongs and lanterns, the canal's serene waters reflect the beauty and heritage of Chiang Mai.
At the Three Kings Monument, the annual “Tam Phang Patid” activity will take place from November 13 to 15, between 5:30 and 10:00 pm. Organized by the Chiang Mai Preservation Network, which has led this event for over a decade, this year’s celebration focuses on lighting traditional “Patid” lamps in place of floating lanterns in the city center. With the theme “Lanna, Worship, and Lights,” the event aims to bring the Lanna community together and foster renewal and unity in the wake of recent floods.
We can't wait to share these moments with you. May we together float our hopes and dreams on the river of life, under the spell of Loy Krathong.
With warm wishes,
Bed and Terrace
